The rest movement has become incredibly controversial.
We have generational, historical and class communication gaps on this important topic, and we need to begin having a different conversation about the value of rest.
I want you to know that we don’t need to fight about rest movements.
It is true that some of us are in a season with enough energy to carry on and move at a faster pace. And others, especially black and brown women, have been experiencing burnout at an unprecedented level. The issue of rest is not a divisive one. This question of whether it's time to rest or not is a double-edged sword designed to make us fight with each other. In the end, we all deserve to rest. And there are important reasons why rest belongs in our overall liberation strategy.
How can those who need to rest still remain centered in the strategies and movements for liberation – even if they don’t have the capacity to lead right now? What expectations have we created around the value of work? How can we honor the need to rest and hold space for each other in community? How can we learn from each other’s burnout experiences? How can that knowledge inform those who are ready and energized to move forward?
These and other questions make this issue a complex one. This is one of a series of reflections I will be sharing on rest strategies in the next few months.
I invite you to read this month's rest reflection here: What We Subconsciously Learn About Work and Rest
Share this with your community & loved ones, and use the questions in the piece as a starting place for conversation.
The Wild Dreams coaching program will return on October 13th in its new iteration, as a self-paced course. After much consideration and self-reflection about my current state of being, and the energy levels of the collective, I believe that creating a program that can be integrated at your own rhythm was essential to the sustainability of the work in this moment. And for those who want a cost and/or time friendly program at this time, this will allow you to access the valuable tools of the program at a more accessible cost and on your own schedule. This course will not replace the live Wild Dreams group program, we are planning to bring it back in February 2023.
We are working spaciously and with care to create this course with the same core values and principles as the live coaching program. I am excited to share it with you when it is time.
To be among the first to hear about the launch of the new Wild Dreams course, I invite you to join the waitlist.

Content warning: This email touches on sexual violence, ancestral trauma, and the weight of secrets carried in the name of movements and families. Take care of yourself as you read. I woke up to the news with my phone alarm still ringing. A headline. Dolores Huerta. The New York Times. I didn't need to read past the first line to understand what had happened. I couldn't listen or read it. Not yet. Two days before, I had done a ceremonial bodywork to release what was burdening my physical...
I hope that you’ve had a restful and joyful holiday season. The opportunity to spend time with family, or simply unplug and step away from work is something that shouldn’t be relegated to just this time of year, yet we can still savor these moments of quiet and connection.I have been reflecting on the past three years and the chain of events that led me to leaving my life in NYC to relocate to Mexico. Tuning into the wisdom of this land and its indigenous peoples has opened my heart to a new...
Based on the plans I put in motion a few months ago, I thought I was going to be writing to you today about my new course under the Wild Dreams umbrella. But that’s not what's happening. (Read to the end for all the updates alongside lessons learned.) When I decided to offer Wild Dreams in a self-guided format this year, I was really excited to simplify and bring ease to myself and the women who would be part of the program. I didn’t realize just how much needed to change and be reshaped. As...
